Philippines parliament votes to question vice-president

The Philippines’ parliament has voted to question Vice-President Sara Duterte following complaints about alleged corruption.

Duterte, the daughter of former president Rodrigo Duterte, has been accused of misusing thousands and thousands of {dollars} in public funds and threatening to have President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr assassinated.

She has denied the fees and alleged she is the sufferer of a political vendetta.

The shock transfer is broadly seen as an escalation of Duterte’s bitter feud with Marcos, which has saved the nation on edge for months.

A complete of 215 out of 306 members of the Home of Representatives voted for impeachment, effectively above the one-third threshold wanted for the invoice to cross.

The invoice will now be heard by the 24-member Senate, which can convene as an impeachment courtroom.
