In an age of recent relationship, the place younger persons are busy ‘ghosting’ one another, right here arrives a bhootni in love with a mortal. Whereas this obsession might have been the premise for both an emotional drama or fun riot, the Sunny Singh-led ‘The Bhootnii’ fails to do both. Additionally starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari, the movie as a substitute finally ends up as an unfunny, two-hour-long drag.
The Siddhant Sachdev-directed movie revolves (fairly actually) across the ‘Virgin Tree’ – a magical tree that helps individuals discover sacchi mohabbat, or real love. A heartbroken Shantanu (Sunny Singh) pleads with the tree to seek out his soulmate, solely to stumble into the curse of a love-lorn soul. What follows is a half-hearted try at love, comedy, horror, and drama.
The primary half provides you nothing to latch onto, with a wafer-thin plot and subdued performances. Whereas the makers attempt to add all kinds of tadka within the latter half, the harm is simply too extreme to be salvaged. The jokes really feel pressured, the romance lacks chemistry, and the horror fails to even startle. It’s additionally a stark reminder that not each horror-comedy generally is a Stree, and filmmakers must cease abusing the style.
Not a lot could be stated in regards to the performances, though Sanjay Dutt as Baba provides some swag to the in any other case uninteresting script. Nevertheless, the star has little or no to do apart from strut round in a Krrish-like costume because the ghostbuster capturing down good and unhealthy aatmas (spirits). Sunny Singh tries onerous however falls quick, whereas the 2 feminine leads – Mouni Roy and Palak Tiwari – are dismissive of their acts.
With a number of movies up for launch, The Bhootnii will certainly face powerful competitors, although the additional vacation as we speak in most cities might give it the much-needed push.
2 out of 5 stars to The Bhootnii.
