The College of Higher Manchester has suspended its vice chancellor following “critical allegations”.
Professor George Holmes, who has led the college for 20 years, has been suspended alongside two senior members of educational workers on the establishment, previously generally known as the College of Bolton.
It comes after the college commissioned an unbiased investigation into latest allegations made concerning the establishment in Bolton.
A spokesman for Higher Manchester Police (GMP) stated the pressure was holding its personal investigation into “allegations of economic irregularities on the college”.
The police probe follows “a overview of allegations revealed in The Mill, and subsequent PwC report commissioned by the college’s Fraud Response Panel,” the pressure spokesman added.
In an announcement a college spokesman stated the suspensions are a “precautionary measure and don’t indicate any assumption of guilt”.
Lucy Powell, chief of the Home of Commons, instructed MPs in March that the police and the Workplace for College students (OfS) have been investigating “critical allegations” of racism, bullying and monetary misconduct on the college.
Her feedback got here after Phil Brickell, the Labour MP for Bolton West, stated he had been contacted by whistleblowers with additional allegations about “regarding practices” on the college.
A press release by the college on Tuesday stated: “The college was made conscious of PwC’s findings following its investigation into critical allegations raised within the media and subsequently in Parliament.”

Dr Greg Walker has assumed the function of appearing vice-chancellor and interim accountable officer through the investigation.
In December, the College of Bolton modified its identify to the College of Higher Manchester following approval from the OfS.
